Mental Health Counselor
As a Therapist I have provided counseling services to diverse clientele experiencing loss, anxiety, traumatic experiences, and complex life developments and transitions.
I’ve also consulted with various health service agencies to provide individual and group oriented counseling from private practices, government-funded health facilities and community-based organizations.
Introduction
Details
I am an empathetic listener that clients would describe as an invested, supportive counselor aimed at creating a safe, culturally-responsive space that is attuned to one’s personal background experiences and unique needs for support and motivation.
I absolutely believe that one can experience healing and transformation in myriad spaces- from a therapist’s office to a classroom, to a dance floor. As a therapist, I help clients develop the tools to manage the different life spaces they manage- providing both safety and exploration.
My Approach
Many of my clients have been in diverse professions aiming to find “their center” while navigating myriad relationships- personal and professional - and carving out time for themselves. My therapeutic approach takes a cultural relational perspective, understanding the innate need we all have to feel included and embedded in important meaningful relational networks. Thus, I utilize both strengths based and motivational techniques to help clients focus on solution- based strategies for acceptance and addressing life’s dilemmas.
Moreover, I root my therapeutic approach in an understanding that many of us are also facing systems of oppression rooted in negative beliefs. I find my multi-dimensional approach to be useful with helping clients manage complex feelings of anxiety that emerge during various life transitions -both positive and negative, experiences of loss, as well as historical experiences that may be unresolved. My ultimate goal is to facilitate a client’s journey to creating personal peace even amidst life’s challenges and tap into their inner sense of power.
“I hope you eventually live the life you want to live, I hope nothing haunts you for too long and I hope you're kind to yourself.”
